Digital Compression and DUBturbo   no comments

Computer hard drives and other electronic storage devices have finite amount of capacity.  As personal computers and the Internet have exploded the amount of digital data used, stored, and transmitted, it has become increasingly important to conserve space. The way this is done with electronic signals is through a process called digital compression.  Compressing a signal reduces the bandwidth requirements of streaming signals such as when you play a song downloaded from a web site.  It also shrinks the storage size of your audio files.   Data compression technology uses algorithms, which are a series of narrowly defined instructions that make certain calculations possible or in the case of digital audio production applications, they process data.  Algorithms are used in computer software in the form of audio codecs, which are computer programs used specifically to code and decode signals. Lossy algorithms have been developed to handle commercial audio applications like DUB turbo.  The lossy technology is used in audio editing, playback and making the high quality master copies.
